The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD) invites local photographers to celebrate the District's 70th Anniversary by participating in the 'Through My Lens Photo Contest.' Your photo could be featured in the 2023 District calendar.

Eligibility:

This contest is open to residents 18 years and older who live within the District's boundaries. All entries must be taken within the Greater Los Angeles County boundaries. Click here to check District boundaries.

By entering this contest, you give GLACVCD sole discretion in the use of your entered photo(s). Each photo should be individually submitted by e-mail and must be accompanied by Photograph Submission & Release Form.

Digital enhancements for minor cropping, contrast, saturation, color correction, or red-eye removal are allowed.

Entering:

Entries must be in landscape orientation and have a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. Acceptable formats include JPEG, PNG, PSD, and TIF. Prints are not acceptable. The finished quality may be cropped to fit the calendar. Photographs cannot include borders, frames, dates, watermarks, signatures, or copyright images on the photographs.   

Participants will complete, sign, and email the Photograph Submission & Release Form with entries. All submissions by the same photographer may be submitted with one Photograph Submission & Release Form.

Email submissions must be sent to Diana Garcia at dgarcia@GLAmosquito.org, subject line: GLACVCD Photo Contest.

Send one (1) email per message per entry with the following information: Photo Submission & Release Form, name of the photographer, location of the photo, photo category, photo title, photographer’s phone number, and photographer’s address.   

Judging:

Judging will be done by the District’s Board of Trustees Executive Board. Judges will select 12 winners for each month of the year. Photos will be evaluated for how well the image depicts the category’s theme and subject matter, as well as for creativity, originality, and technique.   

Winners will be recognized by the District’s Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled Board meeting and given a prize basket. Winning photos will not only be featured in the district's 2023 Calendar, but they will also be shown on the website, district-wide newsletter, and social media channels. 

Deadline:

Submit your entries by Friday, November 4th. Winners will be contacted directly.
