Your Local Mosquito Experts Since 1952

We are the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (GLACVCD). If you live or work within the Greater Los Angeles area, then we are your local mosquito and vector control agency. Since 1952, we have worked to protect more than six million residents across 36 cities and unincorporated communities throughout Los Angeles County from mosquitoes and vector-borne diseases.

While mosquitoes may be small, they can pose significant public health risks. That's why our staff work year-round to conduct surveillance, mosquito control, and public education to reduce vector populations and prevent the spread of diseases like West Nile virus and dengue.

As an independent special district, we are funded through ad valorem property and special assessment taxes to provide mosquito, black fly, and midge control services. This means that residents and businesses within our service area support mosquito control services through their annual property tax bill.

Some of the services we provide include:

  • Property and neglected (green) swimming pool inspections
  • Mosquitofish for eligible water sources
  • Informational booths and educational presentations
  • Mosquito control treatments in flood control channels, underground storm drains, and other public spaces
  • Vector surveillance to monitor mosquito populations and mosquito-borne diseases

If you're experiencing mosquito, black fly, or midge issues, would like mosquitofish, or need to report a neglected swimming pool or standing water, please complete and submit a Service Request.
